五感と特定の行動を組み合わせ、より居心地の良い
空間を作る。
「ダイヤルを回して任意の電話番号にかける」という、イニシャル・コンタクト、つまり作品を起動させるための特定の行動を追加した。この作品では、観衆がダイヤルを回して任意の電話番号を入力すると、都市の環境音と人の声を組み合わせたサウンド作品がヘッドフォンから流れる。離れて暮らす親の携帯番号や、今はもう存在しない実家の番号などを思い出して、一つずつ数字を打ち込むという行為が、過去の記憶を呼び起こすことに貢献したようで、前作よりも、明確にシカゴの喧騒から離れて、より心地よい懐かしさを感じ取ることができた、というレスポンスを得た。観衆自身が任意の番号を思い出しながらダイヤルを回すという能動性と、音の記憶を呼び覚ます性質が相乗効果を生むことで、より感情を共有しやすくなる空間を作り出し、持続性のある活力を生み出すことができた。
Combine the Five Senses and Specific Behaviors to create a More Comfortable Place.
In this piece, a specific action was added to activate the piece: "turn the dial to dial any phone number". In this work, when the spectator turns the dial and enters any phone number, a sound piece combining the environmental sounds of the city and human voices is played through headphones.
The action of remembering the phone numbers of one's parents who live away from home, or the number of one's family home that no longer exists, and then punching in the numbers one by one, contributed to evoking memories of the past. The active nature of the spectators themselves turning the dials while recalling arbitrary numbers and the memory-evoking nature of the sound created a synergistic effect, creating a place where people could more easily share their feelings and generate sustained vitality.
