五感を用いて作品と接触することで、
見慣れないものの中にも親近感を見出す。
未知のものに触れる時や、受け入れる時に不安や不快感を覚えることがある。そのような状況に直面した時、人々はどのようにしてそれらの感情を受け入れていくのだろうか。この疑問を基に、日本人の自分にとって居心地の良い場所である神社を、神社に親近感のない大学のクラスメイトの前に作り上げたら、彼らがどのように馴染みのないものとの間に繋がりを見つけるのかを見た。
匂いを嗅いだり、鳥居を抱きしめたり、五感を用いて接触することで、親近感のないものの中にも、心地よさや自分との接点を見つけだすことを知り、とても興味深く感じた。
By Using Five Senses to Interact with the Artwork, the Viewer Find a Sense of Familiarity among the Unfamiliar
When one is exposed to or accepts the unknown, they may feel anxiety or discomfort. How do people embrace these feelings when they are put in such a situation? With this question in mind, I created a Japanese Shinto shrine in front of my college classmates. Most of them had no connections with shrines. My aim was to see how they would find a connection with something they have no intimacy with.
